I am thinking of doing a three work process for a portfolio to shop to galleries will be:

1) create a digital quilt that is good enough to stand on its own

2) make two C-Prints and paint on one

3) scan painted print and then use MS Paint, etc to crop and create a third image, a detail - thus, ending with another electronic representation.

Three intertwined images for each.

I've decided it is important to come back to digital rather than "end the process" with the painted image. Ending with "pigment paint" would, for me, glorify our past, a tradition that must be mined and acknowledged and yes glorified. I must end in digital to accept my fate and our collective future. Only one eye blinking.

I will integrate the "by hand," in the process. That is how I will play and pray and prey.

Next issue for me to decipher is how focused must the subject matter be. In my current pan.cakes i.hop around too much.

Think.ing, got to think.

Again, traces of southern sunflowers and thin slices of airport, its energy revealed. Take-off sample is here. No, here. OK, down over there. Also a glass apple sauced for fiber.

Your thoughts, comments, smiles, frowns are always appreciated. My best....

Love this digital quilt of down over there's photos. It looks almost like a painting already. The streaks of red/blue/orange are especially appealing.

I think your three step approach is workable and should shop fine. The thinking.focus should work too :) and work up into some really special images. Excuse my ignorance, but what is a C-print?

I can't wait to see your next images.

I think you like his digital art :)

Anyway I see you have been busy again and if I'm not mistaken I think this piece shows that your are energised and motivated. It has a lot of zing but it shows a togetherness of ideas..a weave. Reminds me of a flat nest. I am interested in seeing where it leads and where this new motivation takes you!

we are sharing synchronistic thought patterns, though yours are a bit more developed, as i have been contemplating where embellishing my art with paint might lead me to. i am not so comfortable with a brush in my hand and right now my printer is kaput, but i have the hunger.
oh. scuse me, this is your blog, eh?
i am excited hearing about the next steps of your creative process. i feel honored to be part of your collective of the digitally inclined.

Bobbie, a C Print is a reasonably archival quality photo print done with chemical process rather than printed with toner.

Lisa, thanks for link - been there a few times via Hollandaise comments.

Seu, you may just want to make copies of a few images to a flash drive and start with five by seven prints at one hour photo shop. I prefer Golden paints.

Get a couple of decent brushes - I recommend fine point to start.

I see a fertile landscape here... woodcut like, first thought that came to my mind. I'm sitting in my office and think I hear crickets.
Some thoughts, 2 cents: I think(3)of one image might be a overkill and keep you tied to an image for too much of your creative time. I love change and variety and paint.
You do amazing work! Thanks for your comments and song.

Hi John,

Thanks for clarifying C-print. It already is looking towards being quilty. Have you ever seen Lisa Call's work? (http://lisacall.com) and you can connect to her blog from there.

She works in fabric .. but a lot of lines rather than round or other shapes. You might find her interesting.

I will be eager to follow your quilting career.

It's as if you are following an internally created recipe: "thin slice of airport, sauce of apple, with just a dab of sunflower". Love your idea for the gallery portfolio.

I am tied and intertwined with paint. Love to play with it too much to stop now. But these digitally created images you have here are so apple-ing!
