"twice"

Annie had a blog, took wonderful photos, wrote beautifully and then she deleted it.

These are excerpts of a variant sample of her crow's photo that she graciously allowed me to use.

There are reasons to come blog and also to go away. Many have to do with time and others with privacy. I enjoy the camaraderie here and also seeing how everyone spells better than I do.

Then, there is inspiration - for example, an artist such as Trijnie who amazed me with her glass, her painting, her photographs and her graciousness. Today I added Tatiana to my blog list - she paints vivid portraits and is showcasing her series where her subjects are reading. Please visit.

I must email Trijnie.

My best.

"twice.dream.nt"

Babaloo, Andrea, Lexi sampled. There is a sacred niched icon, an enlightened window (revisited) and another wondrous Babaloo tree.

Then, there are random characters (chicken scratches) - some in English, others not - all were found here and there, everywhere.

Because of the window and the tree, I thought of an old song on an album of my youth.... I do beleive there is a reason for today.

I have been listening to a lot of early Fleetwood Mac and some Yardbirds lately...."Badge" probably is my favorite Cream song.

"an.other's.window"

"excerpt"

Sample of a bright fresh painting, until recently in a basement....a window hidden and suddenly unearthed from storage. The original glows on the world.wide.web.

More W.s Good W.s.

A window now sampled and twisted.....bits of the world.wide.web added, subtracted. An echo.

Crepes no longer seem to be "in fashion." Like quiche. What else.

"when.snow.melts"

Mostly a manipulation of my footprints in the snow....darkened and muted and a bit of a bread truck, somehow.

I used to sample images of photographers like Debi and Lisa, but their blogs now limit downloading. That is wise since they do need to preserve ownership of their images.

I have not done that since they look better larger when clicked on. There are a number of images that I post with SM in the file name and these are much smaller files.

All of this is work in progress.

Thanks all for visiting , et al all day.

"the.plain.in"

Sampled (too slightly) from a beautiful photograph taken by Lexi. My sample, being so close to the original work, my image is a homage/study rather than my creative expression. Lexi has an exhibit that commenced on the second day of Christmas. That was the "two french hens day," if I can recall December.

While at Lexi's I followed a comment to a blog of another Spanish artist. The work is striking.

I like to follow comments to new blogs. Somehow, I once got to Lexi's blog which led me to Joanne's blog. Joanne lives in southern Japan, but grew up two towns over from my home on Long Island. She finds beauty in the most common, often scrap refuse, and then she scans it or photographs it with her cell phone. She was kind enough to give me a Happy award.

Thank you all for letting me sample and play. My best. Always. Yes.

More pictures of Martin Luther King Day snowstorm morning. First one is of our backyard. It was the first picture I took that morning. The red thing up front is a plastic cabin the kids used to play in and I have not had the heart to take to the dump.

More dogwood pictures.

Here are two earlier dogwood pictures, one featuring our van in springtime.

The photo below is for Lisa who inspires me to stare into the sun...

My best.

"in.script"

A wet firm snow last night that stuck to limbs making the front and backyard look like a temporary winter wonderland.

That is our house and van. We also have an all wheel drive Subaru that is a mechanical snow dog.

I enjoy photographing up into our dogwood.

The picture below looks at the sun room where my computer lives and breathes...

I have a pocket Nikon camera, nothing fancy. Would like to have a better camera someday, maybe a high end SLR Cannon, double maybe.

Image deleted...January 21...

Lovely snow falling here - there is a quitness in the air as snow muffles noises and reduces traffic.

"wall"

Detail of a sampled wall - I like the final crow images in the post below - each of the larger ones for different reasons. I like to work with older tree limbs and it was good to incorporate a strong bird symbol.

I placed other images of the crow tree in the basement - side steps and explorations.

It is cold here - crisp and cold and you can even feel it indoors. If we ever reside we need to increase insulation. And buy newer windows for our downstairs. We have more modern windows upstairs.

Crows are smart and tough to survive int he environment outside tonight.

"winter.corvid"

Annie's picture. Early version below. Top is bottom and bottom is top...etc.

Yesterday we had a miracle in New York City. I am on a conference call and someone states a plane went done in New York, I say where, and third caller states, "It is not as bad as it sounds - the plane landed in the Hudson River." No 911 scenario. No plane hitting buildings.

Apparently the jet engine took in birds at take off. The plane floated for a long time and all passengers got off. It was really cold in that water, yesterday. Still a miracle.

Maybe it is a season for miracles.

"crow.limbs.de.tails"

Details from work-in quasi-progress based on a UK picture of a crow in a tree. I added a link to Annie's blog a while back and she has been gracious enough to allow me to sample here.

I prefer the excerpts to the work as one image....maybe tomorrow, maybe someday. That is a quote from Bowie, I think.

I listened yesterday evening to an old favorite song of mine - King Crimson "Trio" from the "Starless and Bible Black" LP (now CD) . The song starts very low and you need to stay with it. This is the only version I found on YouTube - it is the CD recording with some odd Renoir video captures that are amateurish and out of focus yet disarmingly enchanting. Close your eyes if you hate the clip.....

When the song ends the guy just keeps filming!

"win.dow.blind"

Not much time for art lately- too much work and home and freezing weather. Tonight it will snow and sleet and then tomorrow a high in the low teens? I am not a northeastern Canadian laughing at hail the size of golf balls.

This was made with some altered Andrea barn doors image. Windows, car, dry grass, and sky. Not all is reflected here. In an artistic rut, I have been drinking Kryptonite malt liquor. At first it was green and bitter.

Hope everyone is well. My best, always.

"red.less.ons"

Back to a wave, played out, I guess.

Today I was standing on a train platform waiting for the Eight-Twelve and the sun was reflecting off a stop sign eighty feet down and away and the sign looked bright white like a Mount Sinai burning bush of metal.

I had never noticed this before and maybe it was the day, the light, the angle, the clouds, whatever and it had a spiritual unearthly blinding glow....but if you looked at it for long time and then squinted you could see the letters that make up S T O P.

"waxwing.morning"

A return to sampled trees....an Appalachian morning.

"noon.ers"

Fun in the shade, fast studies.

I have been listening to Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain" CD, a solo concert just after he quit Buffalo Springfield in 1968. Some old songs ("Mr. Soul," "Broken Arrow")and some new ones. He gets incredible mileage from his acoustic guitar. Worth listening to, unless his voice bothers you.

A star is born, still quite "young" and not at all jaded. He talks about how he bought an old Bentley with his new riches. Apparently that car was in the shop the night of the concert. Whee does one take one's old Bentley?

From quality family.time to "hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to work we go." Working late, again. First day back.

I feel like Sleepy and Dopey all rolled into one.....hi.ho.hope you are all well. My best.

"new.day"

Cold windy here a day after a day of light powder snow and sleet. Everyone up late after seeing the Times Square ball drop on TV.

Happy New year, again. Red.undant cheer.

Along the way to a new.day:
