Recently we saw "Taking Woodstock" on BlueRay, which I highly recommend. I love a good "sixties" movie.
I have had a flu for over a week now and getting used to coughing. I am better, though, and it feels so good to feel better.
All too soon after being sick we all take being healthy for granted, though.
I am tired of winter and I know that is silly thought. For it is the cusp of February, the cruelest month. Is it a leap year? Let's all spring forward soon....
In mid March I will plant sugar snaps. This summer we will have a healthy herb garden. My best.

"in.autumn.falcons"
These were sampled, in part, from Caterina's post about her recent "super duper" finds at an indoor flea market at the Boulder County Fair Grounds. My son Alex needed pictures of a peregrine falcon for a school art project so I also used them here. And I sampled other bits and pieces, here and there, most anywhere =- Europe, northeast....I cannot remember them.
It is snowing here - large flakes that fall slowly slow motion in still cold air. Feathers in the air. It is so quiet and so beautiful.
My best.

Full size image (not reduced), Penn looking at tunnel towards A train subway entrance. This area has remarkable light that is hard to control.
Recently we watched the movie "Yes Man" which I recommend. Towards the end Jim Carrey's love interest states that she understands "there is not much interest in out of focus pictures." Both my wife and older son smiled at me.

When I stated in the prior post that images were "rejected," it meant that I decided that the image was not to be further worked on or posted. I have many images that are evolutionary "dead ends" or "forgotten snapshots" (a cautious "save as"). I sometimes look at these later and rarely I do become enamored or more often I crop a portion to post. When possible I try to work on larger sized images. Small version of a "rejected" image is above. The image work, with curves and spin outs, ended here.
"in.heather.a.field"
More "rejected" images from the same vein - cropped to MS Paint dimensions - where it all began, for me.
For a long time I have tried to post art daily. I respect and I am astonished by those who do, those who create daily with consistent quality, such as Mick and Debi.
I think I will be slowing down. Not going away, just taking more time between posts.
I do miss some blog artist who inspire me - for example Neda who had a "blog of distinction" which became my gateway to meet other artists here such as Trinje, a gifted painter and photographer who also pours incredible glass sculptures. Trinje was the first to link my blog.
Who do you miss?

Wednesday morning commute - I really like the top and bottom, for very different reasons. For once the shots are not in chronological order - here I placed putting my favorite on top. It has a peaceful quality indicative of in the lulls of commuters. Between the arrival of trains and subways, Penn even at 9 AM can be quiet for a few minutes.
My best.

"em.ma"
This is a sample from Candace Moore's blog where she posted her formal studies of two paintings by Anders Zorn. I used the painting of Zorn's wife, Emma. Thank you, Candace, for letting me sample your work.
On Long Island there is a chicken restaurant chain called Zorn's. Better yet, is my free association to Bon Iver's album from last year, "For Emma, Forever Ago." Skinny Love. I have linked this song, before.
Most can relate to a broken heart, sometime. Hump day, yes.

Pan.o.rama
I want to point everyone to Cory's beautiful handmade jewelry - one piece is here. Marie has a necklace made by Cory and it is a treasure. Cory teaches and creates. She is a splendid artist.
I spent the morning train ride listening to Buffalo Springfield, a late 1960's band that included Neil Young and Steven Stills. Both reunited, a few years later, in Crosby Stills Nash & Young. Here are the last set of lyrics to the Young song, "Broken Arrow:"
The streets were lined for the wedding parade,
The Queen wore the white gloves, the county of song,
The black covered caisson her horses had drawn
Protected her King from the sun rays of dawn.
They married for peace and were gone.
Did you see them, did you see them?
Did you see them in the river?
They were there to wave to you.
Could you tell that the empty quivered,
Brown skinned Indian on the banks
That were crowded and narrow,
Held a broken arrow?
Enjoy your Tuesday. Warmer here just for today. In many weeks, the hope of first crocus.

Thursday's commute - mostly the morning near the E train platform although the last image was taken on track level as I was trying to board a train late and still get a seat. Another straggler commuter going the other way.
For months I have been experimenting with light levels at Penn and elsewhere and I like certain places. Some places have bad light and "blackberry light" is finicky - not too much and not too little. Some LIRR platforms have a quality despite the dimness and the yellow floor paint sometimes hums. The lighting requires fewer subjects - when you get a crowd the quality gets blocked by a sea of dark coats.
So for now, certain places and some amount of panning. I still shoot others but spend less time there. I really do not shoot for that long each day and a lot of it driven by when the next train is available, particularly at night.
