"train.wreck"

Transformed from a sand, fence, dune grass photograph. Details here.

I was not selected for the LA digital art show - fine, my images will get better.

li.fe.goes.on.

Listening to "Badge" by The Cream. I love this song.

"Thinkin' 'bout the times you drove in my car.
Thinkin' that I might have drove you too far.
And I'm thinkin' 'bout the love that you laid on my table.

I told you not to wander 'round in the dark.
I told you 'bout the swans, that they live in the park.
Then I told you 'bout our kid: now he's married to Mabel.

Yes, I told you that the light goes up and down.
Don't you notice how the wheel goes 'round?
And you better pick yourself up from the ground
Before they bring the curtain down.
Yes, before they bring the curtain down.

Ah Ah Ah, yeh yeh yeh
Ah Ah Ah, yeh yeh yeh

Talkin' 'bout a girl that looks quite like you.
She didn't have the time to wait in the queue.
She cried away her life since she fell off the cradle."

Great bass line and guitars. George Harrison co-wrote the song and also plays on it.

great Artists like great Writers...get rejected more OFTEN than the mediocre ones ...that's what makes them great...
I'm sorry that your work was not selected this time John...
I've stopped counting the times my work gets rejected....the last one just last week...
I see it as the judges' problem not mine...
such a political thing art comps...
one selection = 10 rejections in my book....

love the lyrics :) :)

train wreck/tracks has a great linear quality...the black and white...wow!!!

Have no fear or regrets. You have great talent, John and should be proud of yourself for taking the step to submit. Try and try again.

I love the series in the basement.

Cream, yeah

Oh, yes don't take it as a criticism of your work or your abilities. I once went to a live auction of one of my paintings for charity...and no one bid!! I was gutted and didn't take my own advice. You still should...we don't keep coming back just to be polite it's because you have something worth seeing.

Love this piece..can't quite pick what it reminds me of but I'm thinking of tide markers and horizon markers...those pyrimad things on tops of hills that can be seen for miles. I knew you'd do somehting great with all the lines and shapes of that photo.
Cheer up John :)

I would be really pissed off and rightfully so, because your work is good enough, damn it. Keep trying to enter these kind of shows, John, we see the merits of your work, someone else will too. Do not become discouraged. (I could become really rude about the whole thing, but I won't).

juried shows really are all about the jurist anyway...therefore totally subjective. an artist friend told me a story today about entering the county fair one year and being turned down and the next year entering and getting best of show.
it's all about the experience of submitting and not giving up.
so please don't.
me too neither.
