"lichen"

"lichen.detail"

Small sized version and then a details. Derived from a photo at the beach a few weeks ago. Sand blasted. Lichen like.

Lichen an organism created by a symbiotic relationship between a fungus and a single cell plant, if I recall my college botany. I loved botany - for a few months as a freshman I contemplated a life studying algae.

I needed a lot of kelp.

I thought you were going to say, "I needed a lot of help."

Unable to express myself verbally well enough to make myself understandable, I can only say that I think these are absolutely gorgeous and that I think you spoil us by throwing this much beauty at us on such a regular basis, because we begin to take it for granted. If any artist were to produce art like this on a regular basis on a life sized scale, we would call him a genius. How large are the pieces you can make, John. Is there a limit to how large you can have them printed? I would love to see pieces like this in our very beautiful museum which is crying out for good art. It has some very nice large walls that need to be covered with some great art.

astounded at your versatility John...
you could have a full on exhibition of your work or perhaps a glossy expensive coffee table book..
thanks for your tip on my double portrait...much appreciated...I don't get a lot of constructive criticism and it's always welcome...
you jealous???
no I am !!!

Irene and Kim,

You are too kind.

The ones I do in MS Paint like river.bed, below, will be best printed to 8 by 10 or 11 by 14 inches.

Those I am now doing with other progreams such as paint, net and phooshop can be larger - 16 by 20 inches.

Down the road I need a much better digital camera (maybe a high end Cannon, with interchangable lenses) and faster computer, probably a Mac, sometimes, for better graphics.

love "lichen", v. well done, v. smooth
fawzan did a lot of research before deciding on his camera - it takes nice pictures. You may have to remortgage the house for it though, but he would be a good person to discuss things camera-ish with.
