"Mad Men" is a weekly cable TV show on AMC network and is set, this season, in 1962. It concerns an advertising agency and the show explores how America changed in the early 1960s. This is its second year. Lots of smoking, drinking and sex, sometimes with consequences.

Built in 1930's, public pool at the beach next to Parking Lot 4. Taken at the cusp of sunset.

A night of paddle ball, play ground and mosquitoes. I am a mosquito bar and grill. Mosquito chicks just love me.

Early morning and looking out my window over the computer is a newly fledged Northern Cardinal brows and with hardly a crest -sitting in our dogwood. Hope you are all well and enjoying the late summer. Second day of a soccer tournament today.

Before I left Cuba in 1961, the movie "South Pacific" was the last gasp idealization I remember there of the United States. I was maybe seven, and I remember what a big deal it was for me seeing the movie in a theatre with Spanish subtitles. I also remember my parents having the LP and loving the songs although I admit there were lyrics I did not understand. I consider "South Pacific" the greatest Broadway musical - and I am so happy for its revival. Gregory saw it in Lincoln Center as part of his music summer camp. I got the CD, why do I want to call it a record, out of the library today. Great recording.
