I saw the second half of today's semi-final game between Spain and Germany and it was a thing of beauty. The final score was 1-0 in Spain's favor, but the beauty of soccer is in individual plays - the inherent grace of a perfectly executed pass and the elegance of creative yet subtle tactics. To appreciate soccer you need to appreciate more than the act of actually scoring. There is a beauty to defense.

Scoring is rare and, thus, much appreciated.

Sunday it is Spain and the Netherlands. My best.

I won't be able to watch the game. I'll be too scared that we'll lose. I'm going to watch a thriller instead. That will put me at ease. Ha ha!

So much for the overrated talk of an invincible German team, eh.

GO Netherlands!

I enjoyed this game too. A friend and I took a train 45 minutes from Zurich to Waldshut, Germany just across the border to watch the game. As you might expect, the town became very quiet once the game was finished. Spain was masterly.
